(Recommended reading for Indonesian Employee)
There are many ways to do this, but lets discuss the best way to tender your resignation:
Settle your Obligation to the company:Submit your resignation in one month notice period (as per Labor Law 13/2003) unless stated otherwise on your Collective Workers Agreement.
Send your resignation letter to your direct line manager copy to your HR Department. You need to get them both sign on your copy of resignation letter as proof that you have submit your letter on the specific date. This needs to be done to ensure that the one month notice starts when you are submitting your letter.
Ask your Rights to the company:
- Your leave balance, you should check your leave balance, so you are aware of the issue behind this:
- You can either take the leave balance on the last days of the one month notice period, meaning that your last day of you effectively work for the company is one month minus your leave balance.
- If company hold you and not approving your leave to be taken on the last days of your one month notice period, company MUST pay you the leave.
By right the leave days should be calculated based on working days, meaning :
your salary (XXXX) / working days for the month x your leave balance
- Compensation of work services, for employee who has worked for more then 3 years, as per regulation will get this money. Check with your HR on this one.
Prepare and list down written letter including questions to the company to settle obligation and getting the rights.
Why?
This is for benefit of both employee and employer to avoid dispute in the future. What are the questions:
- When will your last salary be transferred?
- You want to take your leave balance at last days of your one month notice.
- What other payment will you get from the company:
a. Compensation of work services (condition applies)
b. Tax Adjustment when you resign in part of the fiscal year.
c. THR / Festive Allowance, if you resign near to the festive season eg christmas and hari raya. This paid one week beforethe Holy Day as per regulation.
Best way is to get all in written to avoid dispute in the future and good for both parties.
By this all sequently written down, there are no ways for company to hold you from resigning or from holding your last payment, or the letter can easily be used for you to go to Manpower Ministry and report the company of their wrong action and same thing for the company, the letter is for them to defend themselves from employee.

We shall start with asking questions to our self to create our own awareness / Mari kita mulai dengan bertanya kepada diri sendiri untuk membuat kepedulian kita sendiri :
FIRST QUESTION / Pertanyaan pertama
Do you know about your company regulation? / Apakah Kamu mengetahui peraturan perusahaan kamu?
If the answer is NO, ask your self is that fair for me not knowing the regulation? / Jika jawabannya TIDAK, tanyakan pada diri Kamu sendiri apakah adil atau fair buat kamu tidak mengetahui peraturan perusahaan?
Thats one of your right as employee to know about company regulation and your rights to have copy of the regulation / Itu adalah salah satu HAK kamu untuk mengetahu peraturan perusahaan dan hak kamu untuk memiliki salinan dari peraturan tersebut.

Do you get explanation from the company on Company Regulation? Do you clearly understand rights and obligation of both party - Employee and Employer stated on it?
Apakah kamu mendapatkan penjelasan dari perusahaan tentang peraturan perusahaan? Apakah kamu mengerti mengenai HAK dan KEWAJIBAN kedua pihak baik Karyawan maupun Perusahaan?
It is your right to get explanation of company regulation, if you dont get any explanation nor copy of the regulation, then whenever you have dispute as employee with your company you works for, you should easily WIN the case in any court of law.
Adalah hak kamu untuk mendapatkan penjelasan mengenai peraturan perusahaan, jika kamu tidak mendapatkan penjelasan nya atau kopi nya, kemudian di kemudian hari kamu memiliki perselisihan dengan perusahaan tempat kamu bekerja, seharusnya kamu dapat MENANG dengan mudah untuk kasus ini secara hukum.

Jamsostek, What happen if I resigned or move to new company?
1 comments Posted by Me and Me at 12:08 AM- If you move to other company, you can continue your social security in the new company and submit the social security number to your HRD, the new company will continue the Jamsostek payment to that number/ Jika kamu pindah ke perusahaan lain, kamu dapat melanjutkan jaminan social kamu di perusahaan baru tersebut dengan menyerahkan number keanggotaan ke HRD, selanjutnya perusahaan akan melanjutkan pembayaran jamsostke ke nomor kamu.
- Register new social security in the new company, and You can cash the money from social security (Jamsostek), this is what most workers did not aware. HOW? Any terms and conditions? / Kamu dapat mengUANGkan simpanan di Jaminan Sosial (Jamsostek), hal ini lah yang kebanyakan pekerja tidak mengetahuinya. Bagaimana caranya? Apakah ada syarat-syarat tertentu?
Two conditions, firstly if you have been the member of Jamsostek for 5.5 years, you can cash it immediately!! and secondly, if it is less than 5.5 years membership, keep your social security records (Cards, Annual Slips) and cash the money after 5.5 years of your membership in Jamsotek.
Dua kondisi, pertama jika kamu telah menjadi anggota jamsostek selama 5.5 tahun, kamu dapat mencairkan uang secepatnya!! dan yang kedua, jika masih kurang dari 5.5 tahun keanggotaan, simpan baik-baik data-data jaminan sosial kamu (Kartu, Laporan tahunan Jamsostek) dan cairkan uangnya setelah 5.5 tahun keanggotaan di Jamsostek. - Is it hard to cash the money? / Apakah sulit mencairkan uangnya?
NO, Not at all. / TIDAK, Tidak sama sekali
Check with your HR in which Jamsostek Office the company registered ? Then you go to that Jamsostek office, and DO NOT forget to have the following supportings / Cek ke HR perusahaan kamu di Jamsostek mana perusahaan terdaftar? Lalu, pergi ke kantor jamsostek tersebut dan JANGAN LUPA kelengkapan dokument pendukung :
- Your Social Security CARD / Kartu Jamsostek kamu.
- Your latest annual slips (this slips normally given to employee, in Jan-Mar of the year together with your Tax Slips) / Laporan Jamsostek kamu tahun terakhir ( Laporan ini diberikan biasanya ke karyawan, di bulan January-Maret bersamaan dengan pemberian Slip Pajak)
If you never received this, check with your HR! This report belong to you / Kalau kamu tidak pernah menerima ini, cek ke HR kamu! Laporan ini adalah hak kamu untuk mengetahuinya. - Your reference letter from the company / Surat referensi dari perusahaan.
If all documents above completed, you just then need to fill in a form provided by Jamsostek, provide your detail including your bank account detail in the form. You can just expect the money wire to your account within certain working days. / Kalau dokumen sudah lengkpa, kamu hanya perlu mengisi formulir yand disediakan Jamsostek, berikan detail informasi yang diminta termasuk nomor rekening kamu di formulir. Selanjutnya kamu tinggal menunggu uang tersebut di transfer ke rekening kamu dalam beberapa hari kerja.
THATs SIMPLE and That EASY!! SEMUDAH ITU!!
If you dont have significant amount in the account, the suggestion is just to continue the jamsostek in the new company / Kalau kamu tidak memiliki uang yang cukup besar di jamsostek, saran saya adalah untuk melanjutkan nya di perusahaan yang baru.
IMPORTANT : Remember to keep all document properly!!

The below is the GROUND rules of resign or NOT to resign:
- NOT to resign by reason of working environment!! Wherever you go basically will be the same!!
You will have the same type of superior people in any company, you will gangs in any company, there will still be two faces people, or big mouth boss scolding you. - DO resign, when you find new job with better remuneration. Economic reason, still acceptable and can be a good reason to go. Why? Sometime a company did not realize or pretend that not realizing that you deserve a better chance or a better package
When you submit your resignation letter to the company and the company offers you to stay, sometimes you need to be careful, especially when they are being ignorance to your opinion of your package that is needs improvement. - DO resign, when your direct line manager NOT trusting you (supporting you). Whats the point of having responsibilities but not supported or trusted by your boss? When things go wrong, the shooting point is YOU! Start looking for new job!! and resign immediately!
One more thing to remember, when you are still working in any company, you have to still LOVE IT and LIVE IT, NEVER talk anything BAD about your company youre working! coz meaning that you are stupid enough to still work for the company if you do that.
BAD or GOOD, the company contributes many things to your knowledge!!

- Nice and professional photograph ; DO NOT put any picture that is not in professional form, eg full body with style unless you are applying for a model or actor/actress. Picture most of the time is everything for the reviewer, some of them will judge the FIRST impression from your picture.
- Your contact detail ; put your detail full names; full address; contact number and email address. DO NOT make any mistakes of this part as this part is CRUCIAL for the employer.
- Draw a line after this headings (resume template should have this lining already)
Introduction - explain briefly of your objective. Do not put too many sentences in this part.
Experiences - start with you current or recent experiences:
- Month/Year to Month/Year Company City / Location
eg. 1990–1994 PT XYZ Indonesia Southridge, SC - Position Held or Job Tittle
- Detail responsibilities / achievements
Sample given in the templates in only about achievements but giving your detail responsibilities in this part of resume is HIGHLY ADVISABLE. This part if CRUCIAL PART of the resume, as the employer will see whether you suits for the job vacant based on this part whether match with requirements or criteria they are looking or NOT.
Education - Same as Experiences, you should start with your recent educational background. NO NEED to put all from elementary school. Just put the major education start with Master, Degree and Diploma.
Add your informal education eg workshops, courses, seminars etc after eduction. put additional part below Education eg. Informal Eduction or Courses/Seminars etc.
Next one is Current/Expected Benefit, this is a MUST! Why? Every employers has budget for their recruitment plans, your detail of this will be very useful for the employer NOT to waste your time and theirs. eg. They only have budget for IDR 2million but at your current employment you are getting IDR 4million, then no need to call you in for interview if the company is a "budget concern" company.
Remember to put in bracket of your expected benefit whether your expectation is (negotiable) or NOT. This also for the employers' justification to process you further.
You can also provide your Personal Info at the bottom of the resume, your status etc.
Same as personal info, referee not necessary to be put on resume as can be provided later before the interview (eg fill in a application form) or at the end of final process.
Fail to plan is PLANNING to FAIL !!
